This time be yourself? 2017

A fear and denial of my sense of place directed my practice away from confronting such questions of identity. I thought it easier to search for belonging in art over delving into ideas of culture. My delayed realization of how much the world centralizes itself around race and culture calls for a clean slate and rebirth. The work marks a moment of acceptance and transition. With the assisted destruction of my previous work, I am ready to brave the fear of my identity, maybe potentially begin to embrace it.
